First and second grade classes pose for the camera. These students lived through the end of the Great Depression and would also live through the Second War World. Some would see their brothers, and possibly their fathers, going off to war as the drafting of fathers started in August of 1943. Salvage drives, rations books, blackouts, and other war time home front activities would become part of their young daily lives.
